BUSINESS PROBLEMS

At the time of starting this project, International Renewable Energy Agency(IRENA) was trying to consolidate all its different websites into a single platform while strengthening their key analytics and research portal in once place. IRENA's analysts need to go through tremendous amounts of documentation and research papers and prepare reports for agency policies and lobbying facing outwards.

Other business requirements included:

Fueling data visualization
Correlation of structured and unstructured content
Enhanced information visibility

SOLUTION

Attivio's Active Intelligence Engine (AIE) provided the best technological solution by ingesting all those documents in one store and allowing the users to query it using AIE's Query Language. Using Search Analytics Interactive Layer (SAIL), a UI platform I developed and custom code, professional services built unique views for the client.

MY ROLE

While this project was implemented by the Professional Service branch, I provided overall UI/UX and design guidance as an inhouse consultant for the out of the box UI toolkit I developed, SAIL for building UIs on top of AIE.
Very early on in the project, I suggested some UI paradigms such as carousel based collection of favorite reports and collapsed contexts, which was well received by the customer in the MVP. I was part of major design reviews with the clients.
